The unsung health heroes

7TH APRIL EVERY YEAR

This year, the World Health Day is set aside for the cause of nurses and midwives.

Fact is that, with the on-going coronavirus pandemic, Nurses and other health workers are at the forefronts, providing respectful treatment and care.

Without the help of nurses, there would be no response. On this World Health Day, the Ondo State Civil Society Platform on Health commends Nurses and other health workers at the frontline of fight against coronavirus in Ondo State.

We, along with our partners, will be making a series of recommendations to strengthen the nursing and midwifery workforces.

This day is a global health awareness day and to ensure that ‘Everyone everywhere gets the healthcare they need’, we must all take a part in this year’s world health day to show our support and respect to all the health professionals out in the World.
The World Health Day every year focuses to achieve national and global targets such as maternal & child health, mental wellness, emergency preparedness & response, patient safety, etc.
This day of every year seeks attention to all such global health concerns that mankind must work on to curb its repercussions.

This was the reality for children in 15 rural communities in Cross River State. Enhancing Accountability in Local Government: A Roundtable Discussion On a recent morning, a key meeting was held to discuss the vital role of accountability and transparency in local government procurement processes. The gathering brought together influential figures, including Dr. Ilawole, the Permanent Secretary; Pastor Akinshimola, Head of the Bureau of Public Procurement; and representatives from civil society organizations (CSOs), youth-led groups, and other stakeholders. Highlights from the International Day of Peace 2024   On September 20, 2024, communities worldwide came together to celebrate the International Day of Peace, a day dedicated to reinforcing the ideals of peace among nations and peoples. This year’s theme, “Cultivating a Culture of Peace,” resonated deeply within our community as we actively promoted peace through advocacy, education, and direct engagement. To mark the occasion, we organized a Road Walk for Peace that began at Cathedral Junction and ended at Isikan Market. This walk aimed to raise public awareness about the importance of peace, especially amidst the socio-political challenges facing our nation.
