Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: Do I need specific qualifications to volunteer?

Not necessarily! While some roles benefit from specific skills (e.g., medical knowledge for health programs), many opportunities require only passion, commitment, and willingness to learn. We provide training for all volunteers.

Q2: Can I volunteer if I live outside Nigeria?

Yes! We have remote volunteer opportunities in areas like proposal writing, social media management, research, and donor relations. Virtual volunteers have supported us from USA, UK, Canada, and across Africa.

Q3: Is there a minimum time commitment?

It varies by role. Some opportunities need just 1-4 hours/month, others 10-20 hours. We’ll work with your availability to find the right fit.

Q4: Can NYSC members volunteer?

Absolutely! We welcome corps members. Many of our current staff started as NYSC volunteers. We can provide CDS documentation if needed.

Q5: Are there any costs to volunteer?

No fees to apply or volunteer. For field activities, we cover transportation and provide lunch. You’re responsible for getting to/from orientation unless otherwise stated.

Q6: Will I receive a certificate?

Yes! After 6 months of active volunteering (minimum 30 hours total), you’ll receive an official Certificate of Service. Reference letters available upon request.

Q7: Can volunteering lead to employment?

While we can’t guarantee employment, many of our staff began as volunteers. We prioritize internal candidates for job openings, and volunteering demonstrates your commitment and skills.

Q8: What if I need to stop volunteering?

We understand circumstances change. Just inform your supervisor with 2 weeks notice. You can always return when your schedule allows.

Q9: Do you accept group volunteering (corporate, student groups)?

Yes! We offer customized volunteer days for corporate CSR teams, student groups, and organizations. Contact volunteer@kidsnteensngo.org for group arrangements.

Q10: How quickly will I hear back after applying?

We review applications weekly and respond within 5-7 business days. High-volume periods (after NYSC deployments) may take slightly longer.
