Empowering Youth through Skills and Innovation: World Youth Skills Day 2024
The Kids & Teens Resource Centre, in collaboration with YALI and SDG CDS group, marked World Youth Skills Day 2024 at the Kids & Teens Resource Centre’s conference room. The program was a testament to the commitment to equipping young individuals with essential skills for personal and professional growth.
Mr. Isaac led a session on leveraging social media to bolster entrepreneurial endeavors, drawing from his personal journey and emphasizing the value of both inherent and acquired skills. He highlighted that leadership is a fundamental skill and encouraged participants to seize the opportunities they see. He also appreciated the K&TRC for its invaluable free training offered to empower the youths. Emphasizing the need to identify the problems they aim to solve, he stressed the importance of work ethics, creating valuable online content, striving for excellence, and delivering value to attract financial rewards.
During the interactive Q&A session, Mr. Isaac underscored that while not all skills need to be digital, digitalizing them can enhance their monetization potential. He also advocated for mastering one skill and fostering collaborations. The session resonated with Mr. Segun’s sharing of his diverse experiences within the same niche, complemented by Taiwo’s insightful perspective.
Miss Taiwo facilitated a session exploring the distinction between career and skill. Here she encouraged the participants to define these concepts based on their understanding. She also means to promote their work online while balancing hard work with smart strategies.
Miss Blessing showcased the vocational skills available at the hub. The trainees demonstrated their prowess in male and female fashion design, computer repair, cake and confectionaries, and hairstyling. The event, which drew 20 enthusiastic participants, exemplified the dedication to nurturing a skilled and innovative youth community.
The World Youth Skills Day 2024 illuminated the potential of the youth, fostering a culture of skill development. It also enhanced collaboration, and entrepreneurial spirit, paving the way for a brighter and more empowered future.
