  The International Day of Girls in ICT 2024: Empowering Girls in ICT

The International Day of Girls in ICT 2024 was commemorated with great enthusiasm at the Akure Tech Hub at Futa. Emerging Communities Africa (ECA) partnered with Kids&Teens, EnactUs, and AIESEC to celebrate the day under the theme of Leadership.

The event began with an opening message from Miss Success from ECA. Also she emphasized the significance of the day, highlighting its purpose to inspire and equip young girls to explore the world of technology.

The event featured insightful speeches from representatives of EnactUs and AIESEC, focusing on the essence of leadership. Ife-Oluwa David from EnactUs defined leadership as the ability to unite individuals to achieve a common goal. She also stated that leadership is not confined to holding a title. Rather, it revolves around the capacity to communicate effectively, persuade others, and inspire commitment to a shared vision. Furthermore, she outlined the qualities of a true leader. Here, she laid emphasis on vision, patience, and the ability to guide others on the right path.

Miss Toluwanimi from AIESEC reiterated this, emphasizing the importance of a leader’s ability to bring out the best in others. She further explained the virtues of patience, leading by example, and going above and beyond for one’s team.

Mr. Olajide from Kids&Teens encouraged the girls to step into leadership roles, particularly in the ICT sector, and urged them to break out of their shells and embrace leadership in various aspects of their lives.

The event concluded at 7:15 pm, leaving a lasting impact on the 20 girls who participated. They were charged to carry the mindset of leadership and empowerment forward, inspiring other girls to take on leadership roles in the ICT world.

The celebration at the Akure Tech Hub was a testament to the commitment to empowering girls in ICT It sure will foster a culture of leadership amongst girls.

World Humanitarian Day: A Day of Hope and Empowerment August 19, 2024, will be remembered in the Ajipowo Settlement community as a transformative day of hope and resilience. On World Humanitarian Day, a dedicated team from Kids & Teens Resource Centre gathered 55 individuals—34 women and 21 men—for an inspiring event aimed at breaking the chains of vulnerability. As sensitization sessions unfolded, participants shared their fears, struggles with gender-based violence, intimate partner violence, and vulnerabilities to HIV/AIDS. Despite the heavy emotions, a profound sense of community and solidarity emerged, transforming strangers into allies and allies into family. The distribution of educational materials was more than a simple handout; it represented a commitment to the future. Children’s faces lit up as they received books, textbooks, pencils, and pens. Symbols of their right to dream, learn, and thrive. As the event concluded, the distribution of clothing and shoes served as a powerful reminder that dignity is a fundamental human right. Building Bridges of Health and Hope: K&TRC’s Journey Towards 95-95-95″ In the heart of the Ondo South Senatorial District, the Kids & Teens Resource Centre (K&TRC) serves as a beacon of hope, committed to the HIV response and empowering Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVCs). Through collaboration with the APIN Public Health Initiative and support from the CDC, our aCare OVC Project has become essential for countless families in the region. Here our mission is to ensure every vulnerable child is Healthy, Stable, Schooled, and Safe. Our community-centered interventions aim to connect newly identified Vulnerable Children (VCs) to vital care. Using a case management approach, we facilitate enrollment in treatment programs. We’re also striving for 100% saturation of CALHIV enrollment as we work towards our target of 5,000 beneficiaries. We provide specialized services, including Gender-Based Violence (GBV) screening, nutritional support, and educational assistance. These initiatives address immediate needs while laying the groundwork for a brighter future free from HIV and poverty.
