August 19, 2024, will be remembered in the Ajipowo Settlement community as a transformative day of hope and resilience. On World Humanitarian Day, a dedicated team from Kids & Teens Resource Centre gathered 55 individuals—34 women and 21 men—for an inspiring event aimed at breaking the chains of vulnerability.

As sensitization sessions unfolded, participants shared their fears, struggles with gender-based violence, intimate partner violence, and vulnerabilities to HIV/AIDS. Despite the heavy emotions, a profound sense of community and solidarity emerged, transforming strangers into allies and allies into family.

The distribution of educational materials was more than a simple handout; it represented a commitment to the future. Children’s faces lit up as they received books, textbooks, pencils, and pens. Symbols of their right to dream, learn, and thrive.

As the event concluded, the distribution of clothing and shoes served as a powerful reminder that dignity is a fundamental human right. The joy radiating from participants highlighted the transformative power of compassion and community support.

These 55 individuals were not just statistics but heroes embodying the resilience of the human spirit. They left with a renewed sense of purpose and the assurance that they were not alone in their journey.

World Humanitarian Day is indeed a day that would forever symbolize hope and empowerment in the Ajipowo Settlement community. Together, we can continue to uplift rural and marginalized communities. Join us in our next outreach to spread hope and make a difference.

Empowering Young Minds: Breaking the Cycle of Child Labour

IWPG Signs MOU with Kids & Teens Resource Centre -Educational partnership to spread peace in Africa

The International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) Global Region 1(Regional Director Na Hyeong Jeon) on June 21st, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) online with the Nigerian NGO Kids & Teens Resource Centre (Representative: Martin-Mary Falana) to establish a peace education program. Kids & Teens Resource Centre is an NGO officially registered with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) that promotes and supports the activities of governments and stakeholders for the development of children and youth. The signing ceremony was hosted by Chikodili Deborah Ekweozoh, IWPG Washington D.C. Branch Manager. During the event, the two organizations agreed to △ Provide women peace education content and curriculum, △ Dispatch instructors and support management of training, △ Issue certificates of completion and establish a system for post-activities, △ Share guidelines for forming Peace Committees △ Cooperate on international publicity efforts.
