Nigeria’s health challenges are complex and interconnected. With the highest medical doctor density in West Africa yet still inadequate coverage, slim government health budgets, and 22% of the population being adolescents facing drug abuse, early marriage, STIs, HIV/AIDS, and mental health issues—the need is urgent. K&TRC’s health programs take a comprehensive approach: from HIV testing campaigns in communities, organizations, NYSC camps, schools, and brothels, to malaria prevention through LLITN distribution, reproductive health education, and our signature clean water interventions. **Our approach is rooted in accessibility:** We bring services to communities rather than expecting vulnerable populations to navigate complex health systems. Prevention, education, and infrastructure form the foundation of sustainable health outcomes.
Comprehensive HIV response including free testing in communities, schools, NYSC camps, and brothels. Prevention education, treatment linkages, and stigma reduction programs reaching thousands annually.
Our signature intervention: Installing potable water boreholes in communities where families previously trekked kilometers for unsafe water. Partnership with EU and ActionAid Nigeria has brought clean water to thousands of households.
Distribution of Long-Lasting Insecticide-Treated Nets (LLITNs) and community education on malaria prevention, particularly protecting children under 5 and pregnant women.
Age-appropriate reproductive health education, family planning services, and contraceptive information. Programs include SRHR for persons living with disabilities.
Promoting age-appropriate vaccination, breastfeeding, and maternal health. Advocacy for Youth Friendly Centres in Akure and surrounding areas.
Community sensitization against Female Genital Mutilation, working with aged mothers, young people, and traditional leaders to end harmful practices.
School and community-based hygiene education, sanitation promotion, and handwashing campaigns preventing disease transmission.
