Training communities in recycling, waste management, and sustainable practices

OUR ENVIRONMENTAL WORK

Nigeria faces deforestation rates of 3.5% annually—350,000-400,000 hectares lost yearly. Communities lack information and skills for environmental preservation. Waste management is inadequate. Climate change impacts intensify. K&TRC’s environmental programs focus on practical, community-led solutions: training in recycling and composting (200+ students and teachers trained), biogas production from waste, environmental cleanup campaigns, and integrating conservation into school curricula. Our approach empowers communities to see waste as resource, understand environmental stewardship as economic opportunity, and adopt sustainable practices that improve health while protecting ecosystems.

Key Environment Programs

Recycling & Waste Management Training

Hands-on training in waste segregation, recycling techniques, composting, and biogas production. Schools and communities learn to convert waste into value.

Environmental Cleanup Campaigns

Partnering with Ministry of Environment for community and street cleanups, waste collection, and proper disposal education.

Biogas & Compost Production

Training communities to convert organic waste into biogas for cooking and compost for agriculture—solving waste problems while creating wealth.

Tree Planting & Reforestation

Community tree planting initiatives, school green spaces, and reforestation projects combating deforestation.

Climate & Environmental Education

School-based education on climate change, environmental conservation, bush burning prevention, and sustainable practices for next generation.

Disaster Relief & Resilience

Emergency response to environmental disasters (floods, erosion) and building community resilience to climate impacts.
