Two Decades of Building Secured Futures

From 6 passionate volunteers
to a national movement impacting
5.2 million lives

How It All Began

December 12, 2002 marked the beginning of an extraordinary journey.

Six young volunteers working at Planned Parenthood Federation of Nigeria recognized a painful reality: too many Nigerian children were falling through the cracks. Rape, child abuse, STIs, HIV/AIDS, and substance abuse were devastating young lives, yet adequate responses were scarce.

The Founding Six:

  • Nike Ahmed
  • Dotun Fadakini
  • Michael Adeyeye
  • Eyitayo Fabunmi
  • Adetoun Ogundare
  • Jumoke Ogundare

With unwavering support from the late Kemi Falaye, who provided crucial financial backing, they made a decision: stop talking about problems and start solving them.

What began as weekend community outreach programs evolved into Kids & Teens Resource Centre—now one of Nigeria’s leading child and youth empowerment organizations.

A Personal Note from Our Executive Director

It is with great honor that I lead Kids & Teens Resource Centre’s mission to secure futures where young people are empowered to transform their communities.

Over the years, our work across Nigeria—from North to South—has been characterized by resilience. We’ve achieved tremendous success in eliminating child labour, TB/HIV prevention, Gender-Based Violence prevention, education access, and household economic strengthening.

Through safe spaces for adolescents, we’ve created environments where young people learn, grow, and access support for informed life decisions. These have become hubs of mentorship, psychosocial support, and leadership development.

Our community health initiatives strengthen access to essential services for vulnerable populations, promoting preventive healthcare and improving quality of life.

As we look ahead, we envision stronger, more resilient communities across Nigeria and sub-Saharan Africa where every child reaches their full potential. Together with our communities, partners, and supporters, we’re building a future where young people are leaders of transformation.

Together, we can secure the future. Be Part of the Next 24 Years >> DonateVolunteerPartner With Us
