Coronavirus, unplanned pregnancies and STIs
Similar to what is usually obtainable during some seasons such as internal displacements as a result of natural disasters like flood or insurgency; unaffected homes become crowded with affected neighbours being accommodated for a time or period of time pending recovery.
With #Coronavirus many have been asked to work at home. Restrictions here and there. By default, couples will have more time for themselves, unplanned pregnancies may happen.
Similarly, dating among young people will return to the local relationships called ‘home advantage’ which will definitely increase sexual activities within neighbours and predisposing them to sexually transmitted infections, unplanned pregnancies to mention a few.
What can we do?
1. Maintain hygiene practices as advised by WHO @who and other government in posters, literature and jingles.
2. Abstain from sexual activities
3. Be faithful to your uninfected partner
4. Correct and consistent use of Condoms
5. Ensure any sick person needing blood is transfused with uninfected blood
RUNNING FROM CORONAVIRUS SHOULD NOT LEAD US TO HIV & OTHER SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED INFECTIONS.
