Kids & Teens Resource Centre and Girl Effect Nigeria Partner to Increase HPV Vaccination Uptake in Ondo State

A Powerful Partnership for Girls’ Health

In a bold move to combat HPV and increase the vaccination uptake among young girls, Kids & Teens Resource Centre (K&TRC) has partnered with Girl Effect Nigeria to drive HPV vaccine awareness and access in Ondo State.

This partnership leverages the Champion’s App, a digital tool designed to educate and empower girls with accurate information about HPV prevention and the benefits of vaccination. Together, K&TRC and Girl Effect Nigeria aim to ensure that more girls aged 9-14 receive lifesaving protection against HPV-related diseases.

Stakeholders’ Meeting: Uniting for a Healthier Future

As part of this initiative, K&TRC and Girl Effect Nigeria convened a strategic stakeholders’ meeting in Akure to engage key players in the health and education sectors. The session brought together representatives from the Ministry of Education, the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), and the Ondo State Primary Health Care Development Agency (OSPHCDA) to strengthen collaboration and enhance community participation.

Strategic Partnerships for Impact

Led by Mrs. Folashade Bamigboye, the K&TRC project team facilitated discussions on:

  • Aligning stakeholders with the campaign’s objectives.
  • Recruiting School Health Counselors and Healthcare Workers to drive HPV vaccination awareness in schools, health facilities, and communities.
  • Enhancing collaboration between education and healthcare sectors to boost HPV vaccine uptake.

Mrs. Ademuyiwa F. Olufunke, Director of Guidance and Counselling at the Ministry of Education, commended K&TRC for its unwavering commitment to youth health. “Kids & Teens Resource Centre has been making an impact since 2002. I encourage the team to continue this excellent work,” she stated.

Driving HPV Vaccination Awareness

This initiative highlights the power of partnerships in addressing HPV-related health risks and ensuring that young girls have the knowledge and access needed to get vaccinated. With School Health Counselors and Healthcare Workers leading grassroots efforts, the campaign is set to reach more families and significantly improve the vaccine uptake in Ondo State.

By working together, Kids & Teens Resource Centre (K&TRC) and Girl Effect Nigeria are making meaningful strides in safeguarding the health of young people, building a future where every girl is protected against HPV.

Our Impact at the National TB Conference 2024: Advocacy, Engagement, and Recognition

The National TB Conference 2024, held in Abuja, served as a pivotal platform for stakeholders, healthcare professionals, and advocates to come together in the fight against tuberculosis. The event Organized by Stop TB Partnership Nigeria, the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, and the National TB and Leprosy Control Program (NTBLCP), the conference highlighted innovative strategies and collaborative efforts aimed at eliminating TB in Nigeria. Celebrating Christmas in the Community: The “Feed a Thousand Initiative” in Ugele

  This Christmas, the spirit of giving came alive in Ugele, Akure North, Ondo State, as we partnered with sister NGOs: IBI Foundation, John-Lucy Development Initiative, Mercy Speaks Initiatives, and Mrs. Arica to host the “Feed a Thousand Initiative.” This heartwarming event was not just about feeding the children but about creating lasting memories, fostering community spirit, and spreading the true magic of Christmas.   Kids & Teens Resource Centre recently participated in the HIV Awareness Walk to commemorate World AIDS Day 2024, organized by ODSACA (Ondo State Agency for the Control of AIDS). The event took place in Akure and was led by Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa. This year’s theme highlighted prevention, stigma reduction, and support for individuals living with HIV. The World AIDS Day event brought attention to the need for education, community action, and awareness to combat the HIV epidemic. The Walk to Commemorate World AIDS Day The HIV Awareness Walk began at the Government House, Alagbaka, and concluded at the MKO Abiola Democracy Park in Akure.
