HIV/AIDS Awareness and HCT
This was carried out on the 9th of November 2016 for 361 people during the Student Union Government (SUG) Ladies’ Week of College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti in conjunction with the Ekiti State Agency for the Control of AIDS.
International Women's Day
Kids & Teens Resource Centre visited some secondary schools (Fiwasaye Girls Grammar School, St Louis Grammar School) to empower girls with information they need to rise above cultural and gender barriers to be productive and reach the peak of any career of their choice. Rotary Club of Nigeria ( Adeyemi College of Education Ondo Branch and Akure Branch) was also visited to drive home the message of giving boys and girls equal opportunities in life.
Lassa Fever Awareness
Kids & Teens Resource Centre and other members of the Human Security Network in Ondo State, was supported by ActionAid Nigeria to launch an emergency response to Lassa Fever in three senatorial Districts of Ondo State to reduce the risk of Lassa Fever infection in Ondo state we were able to:
- Reach a large number of people especially those traditionally vulnerable to Lassa fever and raise awareness among them
- Visit 12 schools and district hygiene materials to them
- Strengthen the State/Local Government to work effectively in terms of response to the outbreak and reporting.
World Leprosy Day
World Leprosy Day, observed on the last Sunday of January, focuses on the target of zero cases of leprosy-related disabilities in children. Disabilities do not occur overnight, but happen after a prolonged period of undiagnosed disease. Early detection is key to achieve this target, alongside scaling up interventions to prevent leprosy transmission.Kids & Teens Resource Centre visited an orphanage home in Akure to celebrate the day with them.
