Education is one of the most powerful weapons in fighting poverty. However, Nigeria is one of the countries lacking substantial educational infrastructure thus facing a number of unique problems: rural access, gender inequalities, child labor, and more. These problems require equally unconventional solutions. Kids & Teens Resource Centre’s efforts are focused towards building literacy and the habit of reading among primary school children, and empowering girls to complete secondary school and succeed beyond that. One of the elements that makes Kids & Teens Resource Centre unique, however, is the way it goes about its community outreaches. Kids & Teens Resource Centre organizes programs to support girls both financially and emotionally, both in school and after graduation; building new schools in marginalized and excluded communities and providing training or supplementary materials to teachers; establishing and stocking libraries. In terms of educational support for the vulnerable children, we focus on provision of school uniform, books, stationery and enrollment of school aged children.
